Volvo has announced that the V90 wagon, one of the brand’s most stylish models, will be discontinued in the Netherlands. However, it will continue to be produced in other markets worldwide.

Production of the model will end in the country in September, being replaced by a special edition called “Executive Edition.” The growing preference for SUVs has made wagons less popular, but the V60 will remain in the brand’s portfolio.

Volvo is focusing on launching new electric models, including the EX60 crossover and the ES90 sedan, as well as a plug-in hybrid for the Chinese market. Two other electric vehicles based on the SPA3 platform are also in development, though they have yet to be revealed. The company has not yet decided whether to invest in the electric wagon segment, which includes competitors like the BMW i5 Touring and the Audi A6 Avant E-Tron.

Before the definitive end of the combustion-powered V90, Volvo launched a special edition called the 2026 V90 T8 AWD Plug-In Hybrid Ultra – Exclusive Edition, priced at $78,500 in the Netherlands. This edition comes equipped with Nappa leather seats, ventilated seats with massage function, air suspension, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, and 20-inch wheels.

The model may coexist with the XC90, which, despite a recent facelift, will remain in production as long as there is demand.
